Additionally, the report mentioned that Rich's bloodstream contained non-toxic levels of alcohol and lorazepam, the generic form of Ativan.

On January 8, Rich breathed his last in his residence located in the Los Angeles area, with no indications of foul play.

The beloved Eight Is Enough series chronicled the lives of the Bradford family, consisting of eight children, as they embarked on the journey of dating, growth, marriage, and parenthood. Rich portrayed the role of Nicholas Bradford, the youngest son.

Running from 1977 to 1981, the ABC show featured a talented ensemble cast, including Dick Van Patten, Lani O'Grady, Connie Needham, and Grant Goodeve.

Rich's television repertoire extended beyond Eight Is Enough, encompassing notable appearances in Code Red, Dungeons & Dragons, Small Wonder, St. Elsewhere, and Baywatch.

In 1991, he faced legal trouble when he was arrested for breaking a pharmacy window in an attempt to acquire drugs. Fortunately, his former TV father, Van Patten, provided bail and support.

Years of rehabilitation followed, but in 2002, Rich encountered legal issues once more, this time for driving under the influence, narrowly avoiding a collision with a California Highway Patrol car.

As his final contributions to the screen, Rich made a cameo appearance in the film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, alongside David Spade, and featured in a single episode of Reel Comedy, where he portrayed the character of Crocodile Dundee. Both projects were released in 2003.
